Designed in 1983, the Beaufort jacket was initially created by Chairwoman Dame Margaret Barbour and remains one of Barbour's most iconic waxed jackets. Featuring a practical full-width lined back pocket, this jacket is fully interactive with detachable hood and lining. The Beaufort is undoubtedly the ultimate classic all-year-round jacket, crafted from a stylish 170g medium-weight Thornproof waxed cotton, windproof Velcro cuffs, and the unmistakable studded corduroy collar. This loose-fitting jacket features a thick Barbour two-way ring zipper and a studded "Stormfly" front closure, two large bellows pockets, and two moleskin handwarmer pockets at waist height for practical everyday use. Inspired by French hunting jackets, the Beaufort is shorter than traditional jackets and includes a large back pocket lined with washable nylon. While older Beauforts feature the Dress Gordon tartan, the modern Beaufort is lined with the classic Barbour tartan, based on the original family Barbour's native county tartan, Ayrshire.
